Brazil’s ANPD issues first sanction for LGPD violation; Colombia imposes largest fine to date

  • In its first sanction under the General Personal Data Protection Law, Brazil’s data protection authority, the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados, fined Telekall Infoservice BRL14,400. The ANPD determined the company violated Articles 5, 7, and 41 of the regulation. Telekall Infoservice may appeal the decision.
  • Colombia’s DPA, the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio, fined Comunicación Celular COP1.3 billion, the largest sanction to date, for obtaining customer data without “prior, express and informed authorization.” The SIC said the company was previously fined for the same violation.
