If you really wanted one of the 999 units of the limited-production Ferrari 812 Competizione but didn’t place your order on time, you now have another chance to get it in an upcoming charity auction. And it is not just any example of the V12-powered supercar but the only one coming with a hand-drawn livery created by Ferrari’s chief designer, Flavio Manzoni.

The design boss calls his latest creation a “sketch car” due to the unique livery featuring “hand-transfer of the pen strokes of the drawing from which it was born”.

The resulting Ferrari is reminiscent of the comic-style car graphics but in a more sophisticated manner as the lines, arrows, and notes come from the hand of an experienced automotive designer. The matte Nero DS (black) strokes on the matte Giallo Tristrato (yellow) bodywork highlight the lines and shadows of the 812 Competizione, giving it an extra dose of drama. The color combination was inspired by the black sketches on yellow cardboard which are a common practice in the early stages of any vehicle’s development at the Ferrari Styling Center.

The interior has a similar theme with a contrast of bright yellow and black upholstery plus a few carbon fiber accents. The highlights are the sketch graphics on the seats, the eco-friendly Alcantara upholstery which is made from 65% recycled polyester, and the SuperFabric floor featuring a black trefoil pattern.

Besides the unique exterior and interior configuration, the one-off 812 Competizione has the same specs with the rest of the 998 coupe and 599 targa siblings. This means it comes fitted with a naturally-aspirated V12 producing 818 hp (610 kW / 829 PS) and 695 Nm (513 lb-ft) of torque, while featuring a track-focused chassis compared to the 812 Superfast/GTS.

The special Ferrari 812 Competizione was presented at the Monterey Car Week before it gets auctioned for charity at the Ferrari Gala, scheduled to be held in New York City on October 17. According to the Italian brand, the proceeds from the auction “will be donated to projects to support education for young people”.

Interestingly, Ferrari’s sketch car was presented in the exact same event as the sketch-themed Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Golden Era. However, the Bugatti featured drawings of other vehicles instead of being converted to a real-life sketch itself like the Ferrari.
