A massive new Galaxy S22 update is rolling out

Samsung hasn’t yet launched a One UI 6.0 beta program for the Galaxy S22 series, and the reason behind that might be the fact that the company was already working on a different big update for its 2022 flagships. A new Galaxy S22 update is rolling out in Europe today, and it’s a massive 1.8GB download.

Unfortunately, Samsung’s changelog for the update doesn’t tell us what’s actually in it, but we can assume that this update makes improvements to low-light camera performance that the company talked about back in July.

Story continues after the video

We could only check the new update for a couple of minutes but couldn’t find any obvious changes or additions, so we’re not sure what to make of the 1.8GB download size. It seems large enough to pass as a major One UI release, but no One UI 5.1.1 features — like improved Multi Window and Pop-up View functionality — can be found. And this certainly isn’t One UI 6.0.

We’ll keep you up to speed as soon as we find out more about the update. For now, know that it carries firmware version S90xxXXU6CWH5. It has made its debut on the Galaxy S22 series in Europe but should soon be making its way to other markets. You should be able to download it by opening the Settings app, accessing Software update, and tapping Download and install. You can also download official firmware files from our website if you prefer manual updates through a Windows PC.
