Mortal Kombat 1 introduced Kameo Fighters, characters that act like backups for the main Kombatants. With their own Special Moves and Fatalities, these new fighters can be key in winning a match. Here’s everything you need to know about Kameo Fighters in Mortal Kombat 1.

Mortal Kombat 1 promises to be a reboot of the classic NetherRealm franchise and has brought some new dynamics to refresh its play style. Kameo Fighters introduce a new mechanic to its new combat system and expand the main Kombatant Move List to achieve endless combos.

These characters are unique fighters that aren’t available to play as main characters, although devs confirmed that they might include some versions of the main Kombatants. We’ll keep you updated about any changes made in the official release of Mortal Kombat 1.

Mortal Kombat 1: What are Kameo Fighters?

Kameo Fighters are selectable assists in Mortal Kombat 1. These characters have their own Move List that can be used alongside combos from the main character.

Mortal Kombat 1: Kameo Fighters Special Moves explained

Each Kameo Fighter has different combos to perform independently from the main Kombatant, although they are meant to be used to combo alongside them. Each player can choose only one Kameo Fighter and needs to wait for their special meter to be filled out before starting a Special Move that involves them.

Here are all Kameo Fighters’ Special Moves confirmed so far.


  • Ice Krash: Frost produces a large icicle spike that emerges from the ground to attack her opponent.
  • Frosty’s Revenge: Frost makes a barrage of stabbing strikes while moving forward.
  • Snow Flakes: Frost summons an orb of ice that floats, tracks the opponent, and freezes them when it explodes.
  • Snow Flakes Cancel: Cancels Snow Flakes and can assist when a Snow Flake orb is sent out.
  • Ice Karpet: Frost places an ice carpet on the ground that freezes the opponent when it makes contact. Can be used during combo strings to freeze the opponent and extend the sequence.
  • Kombo Breaker : Frost assists to disrupt the opponent’s attack combo.
  • Glacier Goring (Throw): Frost creates a wall of ice that spikes behind her opponent and then kicks them through.
  • Breaking Point (Kameo Fatality): Frost freezes the opponent’s torso and smashes their skin and muscle off when hitting them, leaving their skeleton exposed. This Fatality must be performed from about a sweep distance away.


  • Ground Pound: Jax appears on screen and creates an unblockable shockwave by punching into the ground. This assist hits both the user and the opponent.
  • Close Back Breaker: A throw attack that hits airborne opponents and slams them down.
  • Far Back Breaker: A throw attack that hits airborne opponents and slams them down with a devastating back breaker.
  • Energy Wave: A quick slashing strike attack.
  • Kombo Breaker: Jax assists to interrupt the opponent’s combo.
  • Multi-Slam (Throw): Jax slams the opponent two times after the main character performs its move.
  • Quad-Slam: Jax slam the opponent 4 times with an unstoppable combo.
  • Big Boot (Kameo Fatality): Jax grows to giant size and steps on his opponent with a massive boot. Must be performed from far range.

Jax can perform his classic Fatality as a Kameo Fighter.


  • Square Wave: Sonya crosses the screen in the air with a powerful lunge punch.
  • Leg Grab: Sonya uses her classic movement where she grabs the opponent with her legs while doing a handstand and slams them down behind her. The slam from this assist bounces the opponent off of the ground, allowing to follow up with an attack or combo.
  • Energy Rings: Sonya fires a quick projectile.
  • Kombo Breaker: Sonya helps to disrupt an opponent’s combo.
  • Toward Throw (Throw): Sonya performs a quick combo and finishes with a neck slam.
  • Kiss (Kameo Fatality): Sonya blows a kiss of energy at her opponent that causes them to burst into flames on contact. Must be performed from far range.


  • Ball: Kano curls up into a ball and flies toward the enemy.
  • Ball Delay: Holding the assist button during Kano’s Ball special move delays its start-up.
  • Knife Toss: Kano runs out on screen and throws two knives as projectiles.
  • Eye Laser: Kano fires a laser beam from his eye that travels across the entire screen.
  • Kombo Breaker: Kano interrupts the opponent’s combo.
  • Using Your Noggin (Throws): Kano stabs the opponent several times with his knife, then headbutts them into a knockdown.
  • Heart Ripper (Kameo Fatality): Kano performs his classic Mortal Kombat Fatality where he plunges his hand into the opponent’s chest and rips out their heart. Must be performed from far range.
