Blizzard confirmed the release date of Diablo 4 Season 2, along with highly-anticipated mechanic changes. Here’s everything you need to know to be prepared for the Season of Blood in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 confirmed its second seasonal story that will introduce a new vampire invasion to Sanctuary. The Season of Blood will include a new quest line, five endgame bosses, and a whole lot of community-requested updates.

Season 2 will only be available to Wanderers who have finished the main campaign and can create their own Seasonal characters.

Diablo 4 Season 2 release date

Blizzard devs confirmed that Diablo 4 Season 2 is going to be called Season of Blood and will start on October 17, 2023.

Players will be able to enjoy everything related to Season of the Malignant up until October 9, 2023. Wanderers can use the period between seasons to optimize their builds, farm Legendary Items, and complete endgame quests that were broken before the release of the 1.1.3 update.

Diablo 4 Season of Blood lore explained

Diablo 4 Season 2’s story is introduced by the Season of Blood companion, called Erys. She’s a vampire hunter (voiced by Gemma Chan) who tells Wanderers the story of how the vampire pest began slowly taking over forgotten villages, where the Church of Light chose to ignore what was happening with its inhabitants.

According to the vampire hunter, the vampire invasion will be out of control in Diablo 4 Season 2. Players will need to track and kill vampiric creatures and elite demons that will be turning people and killing everything they sink their fangs into.

Diablo 4 Season 2 new bosses

Diablo 4 Season of Blood will feature five new endgame bosses, which will be added to the classic roster of enemies that Wanderers encounter in the Diablo 4 endgame.

One of the new bosses is responsible for the vampire invasion in Diablo 4’s Sanctuary.

These new demonic bosses will be added along with an army of ravenous vampires that is trying to conquer Sanctuary, and their dark master that’s turning everyone into monsters.

Blizzard confirmed that these elites were made for Wanderers to target-farm specific Unique and Uber Unique items as a drop.

Diablo 4 Season 2 game features update

Blizzard devs confirmed in Diablo 4 Season 2’s official blog that they’ll change some features that weren’t well received by players in Season 1. Diablo 4 Season of Blood will introduce the following changes:

  • More efficient Inventory management for Gems. These items won’t take up space in the player’s inventory.
  • A new Stash system, where Wanderers can filter items according to their class.
  • Paragon Points, Skill Points, Potion Charges, and Obol capacity upgrades will carry over into a new Season once achieved with an Eternal or previous Seasonal Realm character.
  • Changes to the functionality of status effects such as Vulnerable, Overpower, Critical Strike Damage, and Elemental Resistances.
  • Some endgame bosses will allow target farming for specific Unique and Ultra Unique items as a drop will be available in both Seasonal and Eternal Realms.
