Tekken 8 will arrive for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in January

Tekken 8 is inching closer and closer to its long-awaited launch, and it seems there’s now an official release date for the game. Announced during Gamescom 2023, Bandai Namco has put out a new trailer for the upcoming fighting game that confirms the Tekken 8 release date in addition to showing off other key game details. There are 32 unique characters for players to fight as, for starters. And this includes longtime series favorites like King, Jin, Devil Jin, Kazuya, Marshall Law, and Nina Williams just to name a few. It even looks like Kuma (or maybe it’s Kuma II) will be making an appearance.

One character that won’t be coming back of course is Heihachi Mishima. With Tekken 8 producer Katsuhiro Harada confirming earlier this year that his death in Tekken 7 was permanent. Still, there will be plenty of fighters for players to choose from right off the jump when the game launches.

The official Tekken 8 release date is January 26, 2024

Speaking of the launch, the game will officially drop for consoles and PC on January 26 of 2024. So, it’s still a good few months away. But fighting game fans will have plenty to hold them until then. Street Fighter 6 launched on June 2 and Mortal Kombat 1 launches on September 14. That’s two of the fighting game genre’s heavy hitters available on multiple platforms for players to gorge themselves on for the next few months.

And once Tekken 8 releases in late January, well, fighting fans will certainly have their hands full. In addition to the usual modes Tekken offers to players, the eighth mainline title will include the new Arcade Quest mode. This sees players create customized avatars that they can then use to take on opponents in an arcade using virtual arcade cabinets. It should be a neat twist for players that want to step away from the chaos of player vs player battles online.

When Tekken 8 launches next year, it’ll be arriving for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. With pre-orders having gone live on August 22.
