Golfshot’s Swing ID on the Apple Watch Ultra 2: Real-World Test and Tutorial

Golf is one of the most difficult sports to master. And there are no shortage of swing fixes, lessons and gadgets designed to improve your game. Golfshot is a popular golf GPS app, loaded with features for tracking your round on the course. And thanks to the Apple Watch Ultra 2’s new high-frequency motion API, it’s added a new Swing ID feature to help you move up the leaderboard.

Swing ID turns your Apple Watch Ultra 2’s accelerometers and gyroscopes into a high-fidelity swing monitor you wear on your wrist. It records detailed metrics as you swing your club. With Auto Shot Tracking and Swing ID enabled, golfers can see valuable data showing tempo, hand speed and swing path.

As CNET’s resident amateur golf fanatic and video producer, I loaded up the Apple Watch Ultra 2 with a Golfshot Pro subscription and took it for a round at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. In this video, I’ll show you how to use the Golfshot app for iOS on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and share my thoughts on how it worked. You can also watch the video on YouTube below.
