Apple Powerbeats Fit: The Compact Workout Earbuds That Nail the Formula
Apple’s latest Powerbeats Fit earbuds are here to redefine your fitness audio experience, blending the winning design of the Beats Fit Pro with a sleeker, more comfortable form factor. Priced at $199.99, these earbuds are designed to be your go-to companion for workouts, commutes, and everything in between.
A Winning Formula, Slimmed Down
The Powerbeats Fit are the direct successors to the 2022 Beats Fit Pro, but with a twist. Instead of the over-ear hook design, these earbuds feature a flexible silicone stabiliser wing that curves around the inside of your concha. This subtle change makes them more compact, discreet, and comfortable—especially for those who wear glasses.
Once twisted into place, the earbuds stay firmly in your ears, even during the most intense workouts or rainy runs. The wing is slightly more flexible than its predecessor, offering improved comfort without sacrificing grip. However, some users might still experience pressure on the inside of their ears after extended use.
Intuitive Controls and Crystal-Clear Calls
The Powerbeats Fit keep things simple with a single button on each earbud for playback and noise-cancelling controls. You can also set them to adjust volume on a press and hold. Call quality is exceptional, even without stalks, delivering natural and clear sound even in noisy environments.
Battery Life and Charging
The earbuds offer six hours of playback with noise cancelling, and the case provides three additional charges for a total of 24 hours of use. The USB-C charging case is 17% smaller than the previous version, making it easier to carry around.
Cross-Platform Compatibility
Equipped with Apple’s older H1 chip, the Powerbeats Fit seamlessly connect to iPhones and other Apple devices, offering features like spatial audio, music sharing, and Siri. But here’s the kicker: the Beats app on Android brings most of these features to non-Apple users, making these earbuds truly cross-platform.
Sound and Noise Cancelling
The Powerbeats Fit deliver balanced sound with plenty of bass, good tonal separation, and decent detail in the mids and highs. They’re great for rock, pop, hip-hop, and electronic tracks, though they don’t quite match the AirPods Pro 3 in audio quality. The active noise cancellation works well for dampening road noise and commutes but struggles with higher tones like clicks and chatter.
The transparency mode is natural-sounding, though it’s not quite as effective as not having anything in your ears at all.
Sustainability and Price
Apple doesn’t provide an expected lifespan for the batteries, but they should last over 500 full-charge cycles with at least 80% of their original capacity. The earbuds are not repairable, but Apple offers individual replacements for lost or damaged parts, including a $69 battery service.
Priced at $199.99, the Powerbeats Fit sit between the Beats Studio Buds+ ($180) and the AirPods Pro 3 ($219). They’re a solid investment for those who want a versatile, cross-platform earbud that excels in both fitness and daily use.
Verdict
The Powerbeats Fit are a minor but meaningful revamp of the Beats Fit Pro, bringing them in line with Apple’s latest earbuds. They’re not as comfortable or accomplished as the AirPods Pro 3, nor as great for running as the Powerbeats Pro 2. But they’re easier to live with on the commute and more comfortable to wear with glasses.
These earbuds are a great choice for anyone looking for a secure, cross-platform earbud that can handle both workouts and daily use. With their compact design, solid sound, and advanced features, the Powerbeats Fit are a worthy addition to Apple’s lineup.
