Pixel 10a might have slightly better battery life, leak suggests
Google Pixel 10a Battery Life Gets a Slight Boost—Same 5,100 mAh Capacity, More Endurance
Google’s upcoming Pixel 10a is shaping up to be a modest but meaningful upgrade over its predecessor, with new leaks revealing a small but notable improvement in battery life—even though the actual battery capacity appears unchanged.
According to an unpublished EU energy label obtained by YTechB, the Pixel 10a has earned an “A” rating for energy efficiency, with a tested battery life of 53 hours and 14 minutes. That’s a slight improvement over the Pixel 9a, which earned a “B” rating and clocked in at 52 hours and 19 minutes.
While the difference may seem marginal on paper, every extra hour counts in the real world—especially for a device marketed as a reliable, everyday workhorse. The Pixel 9a already impressed with its 5,100 mAh battery, the largest ever in a Pixel phone at the time, and rumors suggest the Pixel 10a will stick with the same capacity.
So where’s the extra juice coming from?
It’s unlikely that Google has made significant hardware changes to the battery itself—if anything, the capacity appears to be identical. Instead, the improved endurance could be the result of software optimizations, more efficient system-on-chip performance, or tweaks to power management algorithms. Google has a history of refining battery life through updates and under-the-hood improvements, so this wouldn’t be out of character.
The EU energy label also gives us a glimpse at the device’s design continuity. The Pixel 10a appears to retain the same aesthetic DNA as its predecessor, with no radical departures in form factor or materials—just the kind of steady, reliable evolution that midrange buyers appreciate.
Google has officially confirmed that the Pixel 10a will be announced on February 18, so we won’t have to wait long to see if these battery claims hold up in real-world testing. Given Google’s track record with the A-series lineup, expectations are high for a phone that balances performance, price, and longevity.
