Lifeaz raises €13M to further its efforts to improve access to life-saving interventions

Lifeaz, a pioneering French company dedicated to enhancing access to defibrillators for individuals and businesses, has secured €13 million in a new funding round that underscores the growing urgency and innovation in emergency medical technology. The investment round saw continued support from existing investor Mutuelles Impact, launched by La Mutualité Française and managed by XAnge in partnership with Impactivist, alongside fresh capital from heavyweight backers BNP Paribas, GO CAPITAL, and Mirova, an affiliate of Natixis.

Founded in 2015, Lifeaz has set its sights on a critical public health challenge: making life-saving defibrillators accessible, user-friendly, and reliable in both home and workplace environments. Their devices are engineered with intuitive design at their core—featuring clear step-by-step visual and audio instructions that guide even untrained users through the process of delivering a potentially life-saving shock during cardiac emergencies. This focus on simplicity is paired with cutting-edge connected technology, enabling remote monitoring and automated self-checks to ensure the devices are always ready when needed most.

But Lifeaz’s mission goes beyond hardware. The company complements its equipment with a robust suite of training resources, including a free mobile app and in-person workshops. These tools aim to empower individuals and organizations with the knowledge and confidence to act swiftly and effectively in emergencies, addressing the often-overlooked gap between having the right tools and knowing how to use them.

Johann Kalchman, a key figure at Lifeaz, emphasized that the funding will accelerate the company’s efforts to expand defibrillator availability and foster a culture of preparedness across both private and professional settings. The ultimate goal is clear: to increase the number of lives saved by ensuring that more people have immediate access to life-saving intervention when every second counts.

Looking ahead, Lifeaz plans to scale its customer base, initiate a broader European rollout, and strengthen its organizational capacity by bringing on new talent to support its ambitious growth trajectory. With cardiac arrest remaining a leading cause of death worldwide, Lifeaz’s blend of accessible technology and education positions it as a vital player in the fight to improve survival rates and community resilience.
