Tingit raises €1.5M to scale AI-powered repair platform across Europe
Tingit Raises €1.5 Million to Revolutionize Repairs Across Europe with AI-Powered Platform
In a bold move to disrupt the repair economy, Lithuanian startup Tingit has secured €1.5 million in fresh funding to expand its AI-driven platform that makes fixing fashion and electronics as easy as ordering a ride. The investment, led by Coinvest Capital and joined by Firstpick, NGL Ventures, and returning backers like Heartfelt, BADideas, and Purpose Tech, positions Tingit to scale its operations across the European Union.
A Digital Fix for an Analog Problem
Tingit’s mission is deceptively simple yet profoundly impactful: make repairing your belongings a seamless, everyday habit. At the heart of the platform lies a proprietary AI algorithm that can analyze a user-uploaded photo of a damaged item, instantly match it with the right repair expert, and deliver an accurate quote and timeline—all in seconds.
Here’s how it works: users snap a photo or video of their broken item, upload it to the Tingit app, and receive a repair quote generated by a combination of AI analysis and expert evaluation. Once approved, items are shipped via parcel lockers using labels generated by the platform, eliminating the need for in-person drop-offs or cash transactions.
“We want users to get offers even for very niche repairs anywhere in the EU,” says Indrė Viltrakytė, CEO and co-founder of Tingit. “We’re starting to collaborate with fashion brands and e-commerce platforms so that Tingit becomes a natural part of the commercial infrastructure—what we call a ‘longevity protocol’ for your belongings.”
From Café Frustration to Startup Success
The idea for Tingit was born in the most relatable of startup origin stories—over coffee. Viltrakytė recalls the moment that sparked the idea: “The zipper on my handbag broke, and I suddenly realized I’d have to spend hours getting it fixed. I’d have to drive somewhere, negotiate, pay in cash, then drive back later to pick it up… A digital process just seemed so much simpler, and that intuition proved to be right.”
Since launching in 2024, Tingit has raised a total of €2.02 million in external funding. In its first year, the platform established itself in Lithuania, expanded into France, and now connects over 100 skilled makers across Lithuania, France, and Poland.
Impressive Growth Metrics
Tingit’s traction speaks volumes. To date, more than 14,000 customers have used the platform to appraise items valued at over €9 million—ranging from €20 sneakers to a €15,000 Hermès handbag. While shoe and handbag restorations are currently the most popular, Tingit is seeing a surge in requests for household appliances, audio equipment, eyewear, and luggage.
The platform’s growth isn’t just about numbers—it’s about changing consumer behavior. By making repairs as convenient as replacements, Tingit is tackling the twin challenges of overconsumption and waste. Every repaired item represents a small victory for the circular economy.
Building a Network of Skilled Makers
Tingit isn’t just a tech platform; it’s a community builder. The company actively encourages professional repairers to join its network, providing them with a steady stream of customers and a streamlined workflow. This approach benefits both sides: consumers get access to trusted experts, while repairers gain exposure and business growth opportunities.
“We’re creating a new ecosystem where repair becomes the default choice, not the last resort,” Viltrakytė explains. “And we’re doing it by empowering the people who have the skills to make it happen.”
Investor Confidence in a Growing Trend
The latest funding round reflects strong investor confidence in Tingit’s vision and execution. Viktorija Trimbel, Managing Director of Coinvest Capital, praised the startup’s innovative approach: “At Coinvest Capital, we are always glad to support original ideas; in this case, Tingit has not only successfully brought its vision to market but has also begun to dictate new trends in consumption culture.”
This investment comes at a time when the repair economy is gaining momentum across Europe, driven by both environmental concerns and changing consumer attitudes. Governments are introducing “right to repair” legislation, and consumers are increasingly seeking sustainable alternatives to fast fashion and disposable electronics.
The Emotional Case for Repair
While Tingit’s environmental impact is significant, the founders emphasize the emotional dimension of their work. Repairing isn’t just about saving money or reducing carbon footprints—it’s about preserving items tied to meaningful memories.
“A repaired item carries stories,” Viltrakytė notes. “It’s not just about the object; it’s about the experiences, the memories, the history. When you repair something, you’re choosing to keep that story alive.”
What’s Next for Tingit
With fresh capital in hand, Tingit is poised for aggressive expansion across the EU. The company plans to deepen its partnerships with fashion brands and e-commerce platforms, making repair an integral part of the shopping experience. It’s also exploring new categories and expanding its network of skilled makers to cover more repair types.
As Tingit scales, it’s not just building a business—it’s building a movement. In a world of disposable goods and planned obsolescence, Tingit is proving that repair can be convenient, affordable, and even desirable.
The €1.5 million investment is more than just a funding round; it’s a vote of confidence in a future where we value longevity over novelty, where technology serves sustainability, and where fixing what’s broken is the new normal.
