Paratus to use Demshi Telco’s fibre network for high-speed internet – Windhoek Observer

Paratus and Demshi Telco have signed a master lease agreement that will allow Paratus to use Demshi’s open-access fibre network in Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, and Khomasdal in Windhoek, to provide high-speed fibre connections to their clients.

The agreement signed on 29 July follows network testing conducted by both companies in Walvis Bay.

“Demshi and Paratus undertook network testing in Walvis Bay, which was very successful and demonstrated the reliability of Demshi fibre network,“ said Demshi’s Managing Director, Werner Shilunga.

Currently, the Walvis Bay fibre network is live, covering 3 500 house passes, making it the largest fibre network in Walvis Bay.

Shilunga said Demshi plans to launch the Swakopmund fibre network by mid-August.

This network will include a twelve-rack, two-tier mini-data centre that will serve as the point of presence (POP) for Swakopmund and will also be available for other ISPs to co-locate on the Demshi network.

The Swakopmund fibre network will cover 6 800 house passes, making it the largest in the area.

In Windhoek, he said Demshi has deployed a fibre network across Khomasdal with 6 000 house passes.

“The Windhoek network is still under construction, with the team on the ground busy with fibre blowing and splicing. We have commissioned a POP in Windhoek in the B1 area next to Paratus and a multi-choice POP at the Hosiana Church. The Windhoek network is anticipated to go live at the end of August,” he said.
