Sitting down with Vivo’s Senior Product Manager Keshav Chugh at MWC 2026, one thing became crystal clear: video is the focus this generation. And it makes perfect sense. Vivo’s Ultra models have already mastered still photography to such an extent that there’s minimal room for improvement. But video recording on Android devices? That’s still a work in progress.

“We felt that while our still photography capabilities are industry-leading, video recording on Android devices still has room to grow,” Chugh explained. “So we decided to dedicate our efforts to pushing video capabilities to the next level.”

4K120, 10-bit Log, Dolby Vision—Oh My!

The X300 Ultra brings some serious video firepower to the table. We’re talking about the ability to shoot 4K120 video from all three rear cameras, in both 10-bit Log and Dolby Vision. For creators, this is a game-changer. The flexibility to capture footage in Log format means you can push your color grading further in post-production, while Dolby Vision ensures your videos look stunning on compatible displays.

But Vivo isn’t stopping there. The company is touting its optical image stabilization (OIS) as a key differentiator for handheld shooting. If Vivo has truly cracked the code on smooth, stable handheld video, that alone could be worth the price of admission.

Here’s where things get interesting. Vivo was surprisingly tight-lipped about the actual camera sensors in the X300 Ultra. That said, Chugh was confident that the X300 Ultra would feature better cameras than its predecessor. “We’ve made significant improvements across the board,” he said. “The demo video we shared looked promising to say the least.”

Design: Evolution, Not Revolution

If you’re hoping for a radical redesign, you might be disappointed. The X300 Ultra’s design is largely unchanged from the X200 Ultra, with one notable exception: the sides are slightly flatter. But let’s be honest—when a phone has a camera system this good, you don’t mess with perfection.

The gigantic camera module on the rear remains, and it’s still one of the most distinctive designs in the smartphone world. Love it or hate it, you can’t ignore it.

The Global Launch: A Game-Changer

Here’s the big news: the X300 Ultra is making its global debut. This is huge. For the past two generations, Vivo has limited its Ultra models to the Chinese market, leaving the rest of the world to wonder what they were missing.
