The Wake-Up Call That Sparked Innovation
Davie’s journey into AI began with enthusiasm. When new AI tools started hitting the market a few years ago, he encouraged his employees to experiment with them. But that optimism was short-lived. About a year ago, Davie had a sobering realization: if employees were using AI tools with their own licenses, they could inadvertently be training those models on sensitive company data. Worse yet, this could give competitors an edge.
“We had a bit of a wake-up call,” Davie admitted. “We could be essentially edging our competitor.”
The stakes were high. Davie explored enterprise AI contracts, but they came with hefty price tags and long-term commitments. Even then, the models often produced inaccurate information or hallucinations—errors that made their way into critical business documents like PowerPoint presentations and cover letters.
“I hated having to decide which employees deserved AI,” Davie said. “They were complaining about hallucinated, biased answers. Sometimes it was really giving us flat, incorrect answers.”
Determined to find a better solution, Davie challenged his chief technology officer to build something superior.
Enter CollectivIQ: The AI Aggregator
The result was CollectivIQ, a tool that queries multiple large language models simultaneously. By searching for overlapping and differing information, the software produces a fused answer designed to be more accurate than any individual model could achieve alone. The platform leverages enterprise APIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, and others, ensuring enterprise-grade privacy by encrypting and deleting data after use.
“For someone who just loves technology, you’re always looking for the best of the best,” Davie explained. “I wanted to give my employees the best of the best of AI, but there was really nothing out there that would bring them all together into one.”
CollectivIQ began rolling out internally to Buyers Edge Platform employees in early 2026. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Davie soon realized that many of his customers were grappling with the same challenges around AI adoption. That’s when the decision was made to release the tool to the public.
A Fresh Approach to Enterprise AI
What sets CollectivIQ apart in the crowded enterprise AI market is its pricing model. Instead of locking customers into expensive long-term contracts, CollectivIQ pays for token costs and charges users based on actual usage. Davie hopes this flexibility will resonate with companies wary of committing to a single AI provider.
“I’m hoping that this is a breath of fresh air for companies,” Davie said. “They’re only going to pay for the value they get out of it.”
For Davie, launching CollectivIQ has been a return to his entrepreneurial roots. Nearly 28 years after founding Buyers Edge Platform, he’s back in the trenches, working hand-in-hand with software developers to build something groundbreaking.
“It does feel like way back in the day,” Davie reflected. “We are doing it all over again and being scrappy. I go sit hand and hand with the software developers building the product. That’s how I got my main company—it’s a lot of fun.”
The Future of CollectivIQ
Currently, CollectivIQ is fully funded by Davie, but he plans to seek outside capital later this year. As the AI arms race intensifies, CollectivIQ aims to carve out a niche by offering a smarter, safer, and more cost-effective way for businesses to leverage AI.
With its innovative approach to aggregating and fusing AI responses, CollectivIQ could be the game-changer Davie envisioned—a tool that not only meets the needs of today’s enterprises but also sets the stage for the future of AI-driven decision-making.
