This tiny Brix mini PC brings Intel Panther Lake to your desk

Gigabyte has quietly slipped a new Panther Lake-powered Brix mini PC onto its website, and it’s already turning heads among enthusiasts who crave both performance and flexibility. Meet the GB-BRU9-386H—a compact desktop that bucks the trend of soldered memory by giving you two user-accessible SO-DIMM DDR5 slots. That means you can pop the lid, drop in your own RAM, and scale up to a whopping 128GB whenever your workflow demands it.

Under the hood, the GB-BRU9-386H is powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 9 386H, a 16-core processor from the company’s latest Panther Lake family. With four performance cores, eight efficient cores, and four low-power efficient cores, this chip is engineered for both speed and efficiency, running at a modest 28W TDP. That balance makes it ideal for productivity, light creative work, and even some light gaming—without the need for a noisy cooling solution.

Storage options are equally impressive. Gigabyte has packed in two M.2 2280 slots—one running at blistering PCIe Gen5 x4 speeds, the other at PCIe Gen4 x4. This dual-slot setup lets you pair a blazing-fast NVMe boot drive with a larger secondary drive, ensuring neither storage device bottlenecks the other. And if you’re worried about wireless connectivity, rest easy: Wi-Fi 7 is on board, alongside a 2.5GbE LAN port for wired networking.

Ports are where this mini PC really flexes. On the back, you’ll find two USB4 ports with DisplayPort v2.1 support—meaning a single cable can drive a high-resolution monitor. Two HDMI 2.1 ports sit nearby, perfect for multi-screen setups without dongles or adapters. One notable omission: there’s no mention of a dedicated GPU slot, so serious gamers or 3D rendering pros may want to look elsewhere. But for developers, content creators, and anyone who values a compact, customizable rig, this Brix checks a lot of boxes.

Gigabyte lists both Windows 11 and Ubuntu 25.10 as supported operating systems, making this an attractive option for developers or anyone who wants a tiny test rig. And because the product page is already live, an official launch—and likely a price tag—shouldn’t be far off. Expect to pay a premium over current Brix models, given the newer processor and PCIe Gen5 support.
