For example, as you pull into your garage, your SmartThings network can automatically turn on the devices you need. When you leave, the system can shut everything down, ensuring energy efficiency. There’s even an Away Mode to manage your lights when you’re not home.

Who Gets Access, and When?

For now, Car-to-Home is available on select Hyundai and Kia models equipped with the connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) introduced after November 2022 in Korea. Eligible models include the Grandeur, Santa Fe, Ioniq 5, K5, Sorento, and EV9. Samsung also plans to extend the feature to Genesis vehicles with the ccIC27 infotainment system.

While the rollout is currently limited to Korea, both Samsung and Hyundai have ambitious plans to expand the feature globally. As it becomes more widely available, it could revolutionize how we interact with our homes, making cars central nodes in our smart home ecosystems.
