Apple is reportedly sitting on new products because Siri AI isn’t ready

Apple’s Product Delays Signal a Bigger AI Problem

Apple’s product pipeline is facing an unusual bottleneck. According to a recent Bloomberg report, the company is holding back the release of several devices, including updated versions of the HomePod mini and Apple TV, due to delays in its next-generation Siri and AI features.

Normally, low inventory across Apple Stores globally would signal refreshed models on the way. But this time, the holdup is software, not hardware. Apple reportedly has the new devices ready to launch but is waiting for its AI-powered Siri experience to catch up before releasing them.

The delay is particularly notable because Siri has been struggling to keep pace with competitors like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Apple’s strategy appears to be tying the launch of improved hardware to a smarter, more capable Siri, hoping to debut both together. However, the AI upgrades are still not ready, leaving Apple in a holding pattern.

Interestingly, while these AI features are expected to be central to a future Apple smart home hub, they are more of an add-on for devices like the HomePod and Apple TV. This raises the possibility that Apple may eventually release the hardware anyway, rather than keep waiting indefinitely.

The supply situation is inconsistent: the HomePod mini is nearly impossible to find, with limited store availability and shipping delays extending into next month. The regular HomePod is holding on better, while the Apple TV remains widely available, as if nothing is wrong.

All signs point to Apple being stuck in a waiting game. The hardware seems ready, but Siri’s AI upgrade isn’t, and Apple doesn’t quite want to launch one without the other. At some point, though, it’ll have to choose: keep waiting for Siri to catch up, or just ship the products anyway. Either way, the delays are starting to spill over from software into actual product launches.
