Consumer-focused privacy company Cloaked raises $375M as it expands to enterprise
Cloaked’s $375M Bet: The Privacy Giant Ready to Shield Consumers and Enterprises from AI-Powered Threats
In a world where artificial intelligence is evolving faster than ever, the battle for digital privacy has reached a critical tipping point. Hackers, scammers, and malicious actors are weaponizing AI to craft hyper-targeted phishing schemes, deepfake scams, and sophisticated identity theft attempts. Enter Cloaked, the all-in-one privacy and security platform that’s just secured a staggering $375 million in Series B funding and growth financing, positioning itself as the ultimate guardian against the next generation of cyber threats.
Founded in 2020 by brothers Arjun and Abhijay Bhatnagar, Cloaked began with a simple yet revolutionary idea: why should consumers juggle a dozen different tools to protect their online identities? Instead of forcing users to cobble together separate VPNs, password managers, and spam filters, Cloaked bundles everything into one seamless, powerful solution. From the start, the platform allowed users to create multiple digital identities—complete with proxy emails, phone numbers, and passwords—so they could interact with online services without ever exposing their real data.
But Cloaked didn’t stop there. Over the years, it has rolled out an ever-expanding suite of privacy tools: automated data removal from broker sites, identity theft insurance, a built-in VPN, dark web monitoring, and even AI-powered call screening to block spam and scam calls in real time. Last year alone, the app processed over 50 million suspicious calls, showcasing just how pervasive these threats have become.
Now, with AI making phishing and social engineering attacks more convincing than ever, Cloaked is doubling down on its mission. “We’ve seen AI get better than humans at compromising individuals,” CEO Arjun Bhatnagar warns. “This isn’t just about protecting data anymore—it’s about personal safety, family security, and financial fraud prevention.” The company is preparing to extend its AI screening to text messages, emails, and even web browsing, with an experimental AI agent that can autonomously take protective actions—like resetting a compromised password—without ever sending sensitive data to the cloud.
The timing couldn’t be better. Cloaked reports 10x growth over the past year, now boasting more than 350,000 paying customers and over 10 million protected identities. Users have collectively scrubbed more than a billion records from data broker sites, a testament to the platform’s effectiveness.
But Cloaked isn’t just thinking about consumers. The company is making a bold push into the enterprise market, offering businesses the same robust protections for their employees. With features like real-time scam alerts, risk profiling, and aggregated data on threats targeting the company, Cloaked is positioning itself as the ultimate “housekeeping seal of approval” for organizations navigating an increasingly dangerous digital landscape.
Competing against heavyweights like 1Password, Guardio, Firefox, Proton, and even its investor DuckDuckGo, Cloaked’s comprehensive approach is resonating with both users and investors. The latest funding round was led by General Catalyst and Liberty City Ventures, with participation from Lux Capital, Human Capital, Marquee Ventures, Fifth Growth Fund, the NFL Players Association, LG Technology Ventures, Assurant Ventures, and DuckDuckGo itself. General Catalyst also provided growth financing through its Customer Value Fund, enabling Cloaked to scale customer acquisition without further diluting equity.
Mark Crane, a partner at General Catalyst, believes Cloaked’s all-in-one model is perfectly suited for the AI era. “Some people want to use everything out of the box, and some people want to use smaller pieces,” he explains. “The beauty of Cloaked is that any consumer, anything they care about, they can approach it, and they can get the solution that they want and need.”
With nearly 70 employees and plans to expand into product, engineering, enterprise sales, and international markets, Cloaked is poised to become the go-to privacy platform for a world where AI is both a tool and a threat. As cyber risks grow more sophisticated, Cloaked’s integrated approach offers a rare promise: true digital peace of mind, whether you’re an individual, a family, or a global enterprise.
