Samsung Unpacked 2026: The Galaxy S26 Series, Buds 4, and AI Take Center Stage
Samsung’s first Unpacked event of 2026 has wrapped, delivering a powerhouse lineup that blends cutting-edge hardware with next-generation AI. From the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s game-changing Privacy Display to the AI-enhanced Galaxy Buds 4 series, here’s everything you need to know about Samsung’s latest innovations.
The Galaxy S26 Series: Bigger, Faster, Smarter
Design and Display
The Galaxy S26 lineup introduces larger displays with dramatically thinner bezels, giving users more screen real estate in nearly the same footprint. The S26 Ultra, in particular, features a revolutionary Privacy Display that uses pixel-level light control to prevent shoulder surfing—perfect for commuters and anyone concerned about visual security.
Performance Powerhouse
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the S26 series delivers impressive performance gains: 19% faster CPU, 24% faster GPU, and a staggering 39% improvement in NPU for AI tasks. This translates to smoother gaming, faster app launches, and more responsive AI interactions.
Camera System
While the hardware sensors remain largely unchanged, Samsung has focused on software improvements. The S26 Ultra’s aperture now captures 37% more light for telephoto shots and 47% more for ultrawide photography. AI-powered object awareness and enhanced processing promise better low-light performance and more detailed images.
Charging and Battery
The S26 Ultra introduces 60W charging, with leaked benchmarks suggesting it can charge from 1% to 80% in just 30 minutes—faster than last year’s model and competitive with the OnePlus 15.
Galaxy Buds 4 Series: AI in Your Ears
Samsung’s new wireless earbuds bring sophisticated AI integration without requiring a Galaxy phone nearby. The Buds 4 Pro ($249) and Buds 4 ($179) support hands-free access to Bixby, Google Gemini, and Perplexity AI.
Design Innovation
The Buds 4 series features a blade-like design developed through over 10,000 ear shape simulations, resulting in smaller, more secure earbuds. The Pro model includes a woofer and tweeter for immersive sound, while the standard Buds 4 feature a single speaker.
Smart Features
Head gesture controls allow users to accept or decline calls and notifications with simple nods or shakes. The Buds 4 Pro offers IP57 water resistance, adaptive ANC 2.0, and a larger battery compared to the Buds 4’s IP54 rating and ANC 1.0.
One UI 8.5: AI Everywhere
Samsung’s latest software iteration brings AI deeper into the user experience:
- Bixby AI Assistant: Now supports natural language conversations and can adjust device settings or answer web queries
- AI Photo Editing: Built-in tools allow users to edit photos, restore missing elements, and remove blemishes directly in the Gallery app
- Now Nudge: Provides relevant suggestions to make responding to texts and requests faster and easier
- Enhanced Privacy: Call Screening identifies unknown callers, Privacy Alerts notify users when apps access sensitive data, and Private Album allows hiding media without creating new folders
Preorder Deals and Availability
The Galaxy S26 series starts at $899 for the base model, $1,099 for the Plus, and $1,299 for the Ultra—representing a price increase across the board. However, Samsung is bundling 256GB of storage as standard on the smaller models.
Preorders begin today at Samsung.com, Amazon, and Best Buy, with general availability on March 11. Trade-in values go up to $900, and Samsung is offering a $30 accessory credit for those who reserve before preordering.
Environmental Commitment
Samsung used the event to highlight its sustainability efforts, including water conservation goals, community well projects, and coral reef restoration initiatives. “Innovation can help conserve the planet,” said Cassie Smith from Samsung’s corporate sustainability team.
