Lucid’s robotaxi ambitions are bolstered by strategic alliances. The company announced it is nearing an agreement with Uber to collaborate on a robotaxi based on one of its mid-size vehicles. This partnership could position Lucid to tap into Uber’s vast ride-hailing network, potentially accelerating the deployment of autonomous fleets in urban centers.

Additionally, Lucid is working with Nuro, a leader in autonomous delivery and ride services, to develop a self-driving version of its Gravity SUV. This vehicle is expected to launch on Uber’s platform by the end of the year in the San Francisco area. While neither company confirmed whether Nuro’s technology will power the Lunar, the collaboration highlights Lucid’s commitment to leveraging external expertise in autonomy.

Efficiency and Affordability: The Mid-Size Series

The bulk of Lucid’s investor day focused on its efforts to reduce manufacturing costs and improve the efficiency of its electric drivetrains. These advancements are critical to making its mid-size vehicles—Lucid Cosmos and Lucid Earth—affordable, with prices expected to start around $50,000.
