Prove Secures $5 Million Investment, Unveils 50 New Irish Jobs in Major Tech Expansion
In a bold move signaling confidence in Ireland’s burgeoning tech ecosystem, digital identity verification leader Prove has announced a $5 million investment in its Ireland-based operations, alongside the creation of 50 high-value jobs. The expansion underscores Ireland’s growing reputation as a global hub for advanced digital identity, data, and technology development.
Founded in 2008 as Payfone and rebranded in 2020, Prove specializes in identity verification and authentication tools designed to “streamline onboarding, prevent fraud, and deliver seamless customer experiences across channels.” By verifying real people, businesses, and agents in real time without friction or guesswork, the company has become a trusted partner for industries such as banking, fintech, crypto, gaming, commerce, insurance, and healthcare. Its impressive client roster includes global giants like Visa, Starbucks, Uber, and DocuSign.
The new roles, spanning product, software engineering, research and development, and data science, will play a pivotal role in supporting Prove’s global product development and growth. Many of these positions are set to be available this year, reflecting the company’s rapid pace of innovation. Prove’s senior vice-president of people, Laura Brittingham, emphasized the importance of Ireland to the company’s future, stating, “The talent we’ve found there brings deep technical expertise and a collaborative, innovative, and dependable spirit that has led to an outsized impact at Prove. There is no version of Prove’s future that doesn’t include Ireland at its center.”
Prove’s expansion in Ireland is backed by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland, highlighting the nation’s commitment to fostering innovation and attracting high-value investments. CEO Michael Lohan praised Ireland’s strengths, noting, “Prove’s decision to expand its R&D and innovation footprint here highlights Ireland’s strength as a global hub for advanced digital identity, data, and technology development. This expansion underscores Ireland’s ability to support companies as they scale internationally, innovate at pace, and serve global markets.”
The company’s existing Irish operations have already played a critical role in accelerating innovation over the past year, contributing to several product and feature launches. With hubs in the US, UK, Ireland, and Brazil, Prove employs more than 400 people globally and claims to verify 30 billion transactions annually, holding over 200 patents in identity and authentication.
Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke, TD, welcomed the investment, stating, “This significant investment and the creation of 50 new high-value roles reflect great confidence in Ireland’s talented workforce and in our strong environment for R&D. Ireland is well-positioned to support companies like Prove at the forefront of digital transformation.”
As the identity verification space evolves in the age of AI, Prove faces competition from European players such as Ireland’s ID-Pal and Dutch-German start-up Duna. However, the company’s robust technology, global reach, and commitment to innovation position it as a leader in the field.
Prove’s expansion in Ireland is not just a win for the company but also a testament to the nation’s growing influence in the global tech landscape. With its talented workforce, supportive government, and thriving innovation ecosystem, Ireland continues to attract top-tier companies looking to scale and innovate on a global stage.
