The Adorable Tech I’m Using to Cover MWC 2026

Mobile World Congress is back in Barcelona, and this year I’m taking a different approach to covering the show. Instead of the usual tech haul, I’ve focused on finding gadgets that are thin, light, and—dare I say—adorable. The goal? Reduce weight, reduce bulk, and make it through the show without my back staging a revolt.

Here’s the surprisingly cute and incredibly functional tech I’m bringing to MWC 2026:

MSI Prestige 13 (2025)

The MSI Prestige 13 is a revelation for anyone who’s ever lugged a heavy laptop around a trade show. At just 999 grams, this sub-kilogram laptop is a game-changer. It’s powered by Intel’s Lunar Lake processor, with 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage. While it lacks a touchscreen, the trade-off is worth it for the portability. It’s my primary workhorse for the show, and so far, it’s been a dream to use.

J5Create CrossLink Wireless Dongle

This tiny spaceman-shaped dongle is both charming and functional. It allows you to wirelessly extend your screen to another device, like a tablet. While I initially struggled with lag on older tablets, pairing it with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 tablet made all the difference. It’s a clever solution for those who need a second screen on the go, though the processor requirements might be a limiting factor for some.

Remarkable Pro Move

The Remarkable Pro Move is a slim, lightweight e-ink tablet that’s perfect for note-taking on the go. It slips easily into my bag and has become my go-to for capturing ideas during press conferences. While I’m still using it primarily as a digital notebook, the ability to sync notes to the cloud is a huge plus. Bonus: it worked great during an escape room adventure, so it’s officially earned a spot in my travel arsenal.

TomToc Navigator-T24 Sling Bag

This minimalist sling bag is the perfect companion for a day at MWC. It’s small but surprisingly spacious, with room for a 14-inch laptop, a tablet, and plenty of pockets for smaller items. The soft, padded shoulder strap makes it comfortable to carry, and the hidden back pocket is great for keeping valuables secure. It’s a stylish and practical choice for anyone looking to travel light.

Peak Design Roller Pro Suitcase

In contrast to the rest of my gear, this suitcase is anything but small. The Peak Design Roller Pro is a spacious, well-organized suitcase with a wide-mouth opening that makes packing a breeze. It features multiple internal pockets, a top pouch for smaller items, and a laptop sleeve. The carbon fiber handle and smooth-rolling wheels are a delight, though the lack of built-in locks is a minor drawback. Overall, it’s a fantastic suitcase for anyone who needs to carry a lot of gear.

Other Odds and Ends

  • Pixel 10 Pro Fold + ProtoArc XK01TB Keyboard + Omoton TP02 Tripod: A portable setup for working on the go.
  • Olight ArkPro Ultra Flashlight: Compact and powerful, perfect for navigating dark corners.
  • Meta Ray-Ban Glasses: Stylish sunglasses with smart features (though I’m using them as regular shades this time).
  • Sony WF-1000XM6 Earbuds: Fresh off my review, these are my go-to for ANC on the show floor and in the air.
  • Anker Nano Travel Adapter + Baseus 70W Travel Adapter: Essential for keeping all my devices charged overseas.

This year, I’m proving that you don’t need to sacrifice functionality for portability. With the right gear, you can cover a massive event like MWC without breaking your back—or your style. Stay tuned for more updates from Barcelona!
