The PC game releases we’re most excited about in March 2026

March 2026 PC Gaming Lineup: From Extraction Shooters to Cozy Cottagecore

After a sluggish start to the year, March finally delivers the gaming goods—and I’m already panicking about how I’ll find time for everything. While I’m still lost in Leon Kennedy’s latest nightmare in Resident Evil Requiem, this month’s releases have me seriously considering whether sleep is even necessary anymore.

The beauty of March 2026 is its sheer variety. Whether you’re into cutthroat cybernetic warfare, sprawling fantasy epics, or just want to pet a virtual cat after the apocalypse, there’s something with your name on it.

The Heavy Hitters Arriving This Month

Marathon (March 5) marks Bungie’s bold return to its FPS roots, but with a twist—it’s now a sci-fi extraction shooter set in a brutal cybernetic wasteland. Our resident FPS expert Morgan Park is already fighting for his digital life in this neon-drenched hellscape. Fair warning: this isn’t the place to make friends unless you enjoy being immediately ventilated.

Slay the Spire 2 (March 6) enters early access with the same addictive deckbuilding formula that made the original a phenomenon. The big news? Four-player co-op from day one. That’s right—you can now drag three friends down the roguelike rabbit hole with you. Mega Crit estimates about a year or two before full release, but honestly, we’ll probably still be playing by then anyway.

Death Stranding 2 (March 19) finally makes its way to PC nine months after the PS5 debut. The wait appears worthwhile with super ultrawide support, DLSS integration, and the promise of actually being able to control your framerate. My colleague Wes learned the hard way that 30fps can literally cause headaches, so count me grateful for PC gaming’s flexibility.

Crimson Desert (March 19) arrives as Pearl Abyss’s singleplayer answer to their MMO success. Harvey described the combat as “a moonshine mix between Breath of the Wild and Dragon’s Dogma 2,” which is exactly the kind of chaotic energy I need in my life.

Hidden Gems and Niche Delights

For horror enthusiasts, Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake (March 12) promises to resurrect one of the PS2 era’s most terrifying experiences. I’m still wearing my rose-colored glasses for now, but I fully expect the “Woman in Box” to shatter them within the first hour.

SAND: Raiders of Sophie (March, date TBD) offers something truly unique—PvPvE gameplay where you command giant walking bases called Tramplers in a steampunk alternate history ruled by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. My primary motivation? Building Howl’s Moving Castle in game form.

Dysplaced (March 5) tasks you with being the guardian of a dying realm in an open-world survival building game. The premise alone has me intrigued, though I suspect my realm will die rather quickly given my building skills.

Early Access and 1.0 Launches

The month kicks off with The Legend of Khiimori (March 3), offering horse-riding exploration through 13th-century Mongolia. For those who prefer their adventures on foot, Esoteric Ebb (March 3) lets you become “the world’s worst cleric” in a Disco Elysium meets D&D experience.

Solasta 2 (March 12) brings its D&D-like tactical RPG to early access with a party of four adventurers ready to face whatever the developers throw at them. Meanwhile, Everwind (March 17) takes the blocky sandbox formula to the skies with a survival crafting adventure that looks positively dreamy.

Major Updates and Expansions

World of Warcraft‘s next expansion, Midnight (March 2), introduces a new campaign arc, player housing system, and the Haranir allied race. Final Fantasy 14 follows with its Into the Mist update (March 3), adding a new variant dungeon and more from the beloved Hildibrand quest series.

Dead by Daylight‘s All-Kill Comback (March 17) revisits its K-pop chapter with a new map, survivor, and a complete rework of its popstar killer, The Trickster. Because apparently we needed more reasons to be scared of K-pop idols.

Can’t-Miss Events

The gaming calendar is packed this month. GDC kicks off its annual summit on March 9, followed by the Future Games Show Spring Showcase on March 12. SXSW brings its gaming panels and previews starting March 12, while PAX East takes over Boston from March 26-29.

Steam Next Fest wraps up March 2, but themed Steam sales continue throughout the month: Tower Defense Fest (March 9-16), the 2026 Steam Spring Sale (March 19-26), and House & Home Fest (March 30-April 6).

The Rest of the March Madness

From John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando (March 12) bringing 4-player co-op zombie blasting to Life is Strange: Reunion (March 26) letting you decide Max and Chloe’s fate all over again, the month is absolutely stacked. Monster Hunter Stories 3 (March 12) offers turn-based monster collecting, while WWE 2K26 (March 12) brings CM Punk back to the ring.

For something completely different, Hozy (March 30) offers cozy, low-stress home restoration, while Tombwater (March 31) delivers rootin’ tootin’ metroidvania action in the wild west. And for the truly nihilistic among us, The Last Cat in the Universe (March, date TBD) tasks you with caring for the final feline after humanity’s extinction.
