xWatts closes £1.6M to expand AI-powered energy management solutions

London-based xWatts, an intelligent energy management platform dedicated to decarbonising complex real estate assets, has secured £1.6 million in seed funding to scale its AI-driven solutions. The round was led by Cambridge Enterprise Ventures, with participation from Cambridge Angels, Parkwalk, and R42.

xWatts develops cutting-edge AI and machine learning technology designed to optimise energy use across large and intricate real estate portfolios. By integrating directly with building energy systems, the platform models facilities in real time and automates the management of energy generation and demand—including HVAC, solar, and combined heat and power systems. This approach not only reduces energy costs but also cuts carbon emissions and enhances operational oversight.

The company’s focus is on non-domestic buildings across Europe, where energy consumption is a major operational expense, especially for estates with energy-intensive systems. xWatts’ technology has already been deployed in healthcare, education, and manufacturing facilities, delivering measurable reductions in energy consumption, operating costs, and associated carbon emissions.

Yigit Akar, CEO and co-founder of xWatts, emphasised the company’s mission: “Our aim is to decarbonise complex real estate in an intelligent, automated, and scalable way. Rather than only providing insights, our platform actively manages energy systems. This funding supports continued product development and growth as we scale the business.”

Unlike traditional solutions that primarily analyse or report data, xWatts takes a hands-on approach by connecting directly to building systems. This enables real-time optimisation and automation, setting it apart in the rapidly evolving proptech and cleantech sectors.

The fresh capital will be used to accelerate product development and expand xWatts’ presence in key European markets, with a particular focus on healthcare, higher education, and industrial sectors. As the built environment accounts for a significant share of global carbon emissions, innovations like xWatts are increasingly vital in the push towards net-zero targets.

With this latest funding, xWatts is well-positioned to lead the charge in transforming how complex real estate assets manage energy, making sustainability both achievable and profitable for its clients.
