Cox gives internet outage update

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Repairmen have made significant progress in restoring internet services after the May 26 tornados, Cox Communications reports.

“We [will] continue working diligently to help some customers without service in a very few specific areas with the worst damage to Cox lines, equipment, and homes,” a Cox spokesperson said. “We know that’s frustrating, and we are working to get everyone reconnected as quickly as possible.”

Even if a customer’s home does not appear to be damaged, services can be impacted by equipment or line damage in the area, according to a news release.

Customers who cannot connect to Cox in a home with no visible damage may have an individual line issue that will need a technician to visit and fix.

If an issue persists even after restarting all Cox equipment, immediate contact via SmartHelp is recommended to schedule a technician visit, according to a Cox spokesperson.

Cox is offering free service transfers or temporary pauses through the Storm Assistance Plan for those displaced by the May 26 tornados. To sign up, individuals can text 54512, chat with Cox, or call (888) 269-9693.
