WELL, SOME IN A NORTHWEST OMAHA NEIGHBORHOOD ARE WONDERING IF THEIR INTERNET IS EVER GOING TO COME BACK ON FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW, CENTURYLINK CUSTOMERS THERE HAVE BEEN WAITING. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S AARON HEGARTY TALKED TO SOME FRUSTRATED CUSTOMERS TODAY. JOINS US IN THE STUDIO. AARON, ROB, JULIE, YOU’LL REMEMBER THIS FLASH FLOODING FROM MAY 21ST. THAT’S WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED AT ABOUT 40 HOMES IN THE AREA AROUND 90TH AND FORT. I’VE TALKED TO SIX OF THOSE CENTURYLINK CUSTOMERS, INCLUDING ONE OF THEM THAT WORKS FROM HOME WHO HAD TO WORK AT HER DAUGHTER’S HOUSE INSTEAD FOR THREE WEEKS BEFORE SHE SWITCHED INTERNET PROVIDERS. IT’S MISERABLE. 93 YEAR OLD DORIS GRILLO IS UP IN ARMS. WHY CAN’T THEY FIX IT? I MEAN, THAT’S THEIR BUSINESS. I’M WONDERING AT THIS POINT, I’M THINKING AFTER A MONTH, WHAT THE HECK? I DON’T DRIVE ANYMORE. I’VE GOT A BAD LEG AND I LIKE MY INTERNET SO THAT I CAN LOOK UP STUFF AND PLAY GAMES. SHE LIKES HER ONLINE SHOPPING TOO. HOME HYGIENE. I CAN’T BUY YOU ANY DOG FOOD BECAUSE DAWES I CAN’T GET OUT. GINA. SHE’S GOT PLENTY FOOD. BUT IT’S NOT JUST FUN AND GAMES AND SHOPPING. IT’S ABOUT SAFETY. GOOGLE IS LIKE MY YOU KNOW WHAT A GOOGLE IS? I CAN’T FIND THE WI-FI NETWORK. HER GOOGLE HOME ASSISTANT COULD BE A LIFESAVER BY PLACING A CALL WITH JUST HER VOICE. IT’S A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I HAVE FALLEN. I HAVE FALLEN SEVERAL TIMES AND I HAVE CALLED. HER SON HAS RECEIVED TEXTS DAY AFTER DAY SAYING IT WILL BE FIXED THE NEXT DAY, MAY 29TH. MAY 31ST, JUST A FEW BLOCKS AWAY. THE SAME PROBLEM. TOMORROW COMES AND IT’S NEVER RESTORED. AMANDA DEGUE WORKS FROM HOME PART OF THE TIME TO CRUNCH TIME FOR ME. SO IT’S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT I CAN WORK SEAMLESSLY AND THEY ONLY HAVE SO MUCH HOTSPOT DATA FROM THEIR PHONES, SHE SAYS. IT’S NOT ALL BAD, ESPECIALLY FOR THE KIDS. I ACTUALLY GET OUTSIDE MORE. I FEEL LIKE, SO IT’S NOT LIKE TEN. TERRIBLE. BUT BUT IT WOULD STILL BE NICE TO HAVE. THEY JUST WANT TO KNOW WHEN IT’LL BE FIXED AND IF THEY SHOULD MOVE ON TO ANOTHER COMPANY. JUST SOME TYPE OF COMMUNICATION. INSTEAD OF JUST PROMISING US TOMORROW AND THEN TOMORROW COMES AND IT’S NEVER RESTORED. CENTURYLINK TELLS ME THEY’RE STILL WAITING FOR THE EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO RESTORE SERVICES DAMAGED BY THE FLOODING, BUT THEY DON’T HAVE A TIMELINE OF WHEN THAT MIGHT HAPPEN. STILL, SOME ARE TOLD AGAIN, IT WILL BE FIXED TOMORROW. THEY ARE GIVING REFUNDS TO CUSTOMERS.
