Japan’s Sakura Internet aims to sell AI power to Southeast Asia


TOKYO — Japanese cloud service provider Sakura Internet says it is looking to sell AI computing power generated in Japan and elsewhere to customers in Southeast Asia, as Tokyo seeks more cooperation on AI with the “Global South.”

Founder and CEO Kunihiro Tanaka told Nikkei Asia that the company plans to set up an office or “base” in a Southeast Asia country by “this fiscal year,” which ends in March 2025. The company said specifics remain under consideration.
