Suunto Q2 software update brings new features and improved battery life to watches

Suunto has announced its Q2 software update for the Race S, Race, Vertical and 9 Peak Pro wearables. A phased rollout of the firmware version 2.35.34 began on July 3rd, with the release bringing new features, bug fixes and improvements to the watches.

The Q2 update change log notes that three new watch faces have been added, with the ability to adjust the watch face to suit your needs. An always-on-display setting for when you are working out has arrived, as has a screen lock tool when in watch mode. More options during workouts include display settings specifically for the sports modes and updates to the user interface. Other features include a sleep health metric on the watch’s summary page, climb guidance, and support for the Vietnamese language.

Suunto also claims that it has improved the battery life for some wearables when using GPS with activities, boosting the Race S from 30 to 31 hours, the Race from 40 to 50 hours, the Vertical from 60 to 65 hours and the Vertical Solar from 85 to to 90 hours. The step counter has been improved to reduce miscounting, and sleep health measurements are said to have been enhanced for users with a sub-40 heart rate when resting.

The official change log is below, or you can find more information on the Suunto forum. The update will download automatically when available, assuming your watch is connected to your smartphone with the Suunto app. Alternatively, you may be able to manually trigger the download by going to Settings > General > Software update.
