Watch: Boy’s Donkey Ride With Curtain Lights Leaves Internet Amused

A boy has humorously captured the headlines for covering the roads on a donkey. Yes, you heard it right. A viral video on Instagram shows a boy happily riding a donkey and wearing curtain string lights on his body. The donkey’s face is also covered with the string lights. A man standing on the roadside can be seen requesting the boy for a lift. Two younger kids can also be seen watching the interesting spectacle unfold in front of them. In the background, a reprised version of Dutch-Pakistani singer-songwriter and rapper Imran Khan’s song Amplifier from the album Unforgettable plays in the background. Singer and composer Raghav Sachar has composed this reprised version. This clip has garnered 26,000 views and counting. The location of this clip is unknown.

Social media users were left in splits after watching the clip and guessed that this might be from Pakistan. Others tagged their friends writing that they would make entries in this manner at their weddings. “Digital Pakistan”, read another comment.

Emphasising more on the importance of donkeys in Pakistan, a groom named Azlan gifted his bride Warisha, a donkey at their wedding in 2022. It is because Warisha loves donkeys as they are extremely hard-working creatures. Both had even planned to adopt the baby donkey. The clip has garnered more than 4,00,000 views.

Shedding light on the donkey population count in Pakistan, it has increased by 1.72 per cent to reach 5.9 million during the fiscal year 2023-24. This data is according to the latest official data on the livestock in the agrarian country. The Pakistan Economic Survey 2023-24, which highlights the important economic achievements in the outgoing fiscal year, was launched on June 12. The economic survey showed the donkey population has been increasing.

The data shows that the population of the Beasts of Burden was 5.5 million in 2019-2020, 5.6 million in 2020-21, 5.7 million in 2021-22 and 5.8 million in 2022-23. On the other hand, it jumped to 5.9 million in 2023-24. Horses and mules, the close cousins of donkeys, were less fortunate. It is because there has been no change in their numbers for the last five years, which remained at 0.4 million and 0.2 million, respectively.
