KUB ConnectED will provide high-speed internet to Knox County School students who qualify.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — KUB has launched an assistance program that provides free internet to Knoxville student households.
KUB ConnectED participants will receive $80 monthly for KUB Fiber one Gigabit symmetrical internet service, managed router services including a router and enhanced services for eligible families.
“KUB remains committed to addressing the need to provide broadband internet to underserved and underrepresented communities. Through KUB ConnectED, we can provide our students affordable access to the fastest internet available,” KUB President and CEO Gabriel J. Bolas II said. “We are proud to be the only local internet provider offering free, one gigabit internet service in our area. This program builds upon our legacy of providing local customer service and assistance to the community.”
Eligible households must live within KUB’s electric service territory and Knox County, have KUB internet service available at their address, meet program income requirements and have a child enrolled in Knox County Schools.
KUB Fiber is available in Rocky Hill, Parkridge, Halls, Fourth & Gill, House Mountain, South Knoxville and West Hills.
“Reliable and affordable internet is a must for our students,” Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon said. “We are so happy to help support this program that we know is helping families, broadening learning possibilities, and strengthening young minds in Knoxville.”
As part of the application process, participants must share their contact information, KUB service address, proof of school enrollment and proof of income eligibility.
